Isn't it just the strangest place!? You make me want to go back again! I went with a few friends a couple years ago and had never heard anything about it prior to visiting, so it definitely caught me by surprise! We did enjoy exploring it though :) Crazy to think how small Ed was and what he was able to do!

I just recently heard about this place a couple weeks ago, it's such a fascinating portrayal of human ingenuity and well, the power of love (cue back to the future theme music).

I've been dying to visit this place for years! It's one of the few mysterious sites in the USA. The more you learn about the history the more impressive the story becomes. I've even seen several documentaries on the Coral Castle.

For example, take the part where the Coral Castle was moved at night. It was done by flatbed truck but did you know this: the driver was ordered to deliver the truck at sunset then walk away and not return until sunrise. He would then drive the truck (now loaded with stones) to the new location and again let it sit overnight.

However one night the driver left his wallet in the cab of the truck. Less than thirty minutes after initially dropping off the truck he returned to quickly reclaim his wallet only to find to his surprise that ol' Ed had already managed to get several multi-ton stones loaded onto the flatbed, seemingly with no equipment or help from anyone else.

Yes, wildly interesting stuff indeed. Glad you two got a chance to visit it firsthand. The GypsyNesters were also there recently -- just read their post on the Coral Castle last week.

That place is so cool. Thus far I've only seen it on TV, but it's definitely on my bucket list. I was a teenager the first time I heard about it, in an interview with Billy Idol. He said the song Sweet Sixteen is based on the Coral Castle.

Thank you for sharing! =D
