That’s pretty funny about Sintra Bob. We had a similar experience and wanted to stay longer in the area however the rain was a bit distracting. Judging by how lush and green the area is I would guess they get a lot of rain there year round.

It was still a cool place to see though.

Dennis, European road trips can be great. We found Spain and Portugal to be similar in some ways and so different in others. They really have to be experienced.

The toll roads are definitely a bit confusing however once you understand them it’s not such a big deal and not all that expensive either. I think our total came out to 24 Euros for the entire time we were there and we traveled all the major toll roads. You can also bypass them in favor of the more scenic routes however we decided to just enjoy their paved goodness. I wrote a post about them a while back if you want to find out more about them.

For anyone wondering, this trip took us 3 weeks however it could be easily done in half the time if you pushed yourself a little harder. That said, we could have easily stayed in any of the places we visited for much longer and plan to visit a few of them again in the future. We especially loved the Porto Douro district but that could just be the port talking. :)
