Our car actually the one thing we are keeping for now. We sold our house but are keeping our car. That way whenever we return to North America we can have the freedom to road trip and travel at our own pace.

The one thing I’ve missed the past 6 years of being nomadic is the lack of a vehicle. Sure, I’ve rented from time to time, but it’s not the same thing. I had Jeep for many years living in Colorado and being able to get out and about into the canyons/back country is just so much fun.

These really articulate things that I also do but haven’t expressed as logically as you have.

There is interesting things along most roads, but if you don’t have time to stop and check it out then the driving becomes boring. I also agree with planning to drive for 2-3 days and then taking a couple of non-driving days – it makes such a difference to your enjoyment of the trip!
