I loved reading about your stay in Traverse City! Even though I’m a Michigander, I’ve never really explored the area. I’m hoping that I will get the opportunity to visit in 2016 and I will definitely be referring to your post when I plan my stay. :) Michigan have some great beers and I’m so glad that you highlighted them!

In reply to Kenin Bassart. I was born and raised in Traverse City and I love this article about my hometown!! I am now in Alaska but there is much of my heart in TC still! I would also recommend going to the west of town to Empire for the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and then Glen Arbor where there is what we call "Fish Town"

You barely scratched the surface. As a local I have to suggest you visit during the Film Festival in late July or the comedy festival in February. Interlchen arts academy has world class performance arts as well. During the warmer months I suggest a trip to the 5-6 food trucks downtown and numerous non chain restraunts in the area.

Avoid anything touristy and the cherry festival in general besides the air show.

TC will be my forever home come this March, so glad you enjoyed it! Next visit stay longer and don’t forget the day drives to Charlevoix, Petoskey and Harbor Springs beautiful places all!

Next time…try Harvest, a small eatery with an amazing menu that changes daily. It is located in the ally behind the Union Street Station. Definitely one of the best “hole in the wall” restaurants here in Traverse City!
