Karen,
We need to start doing more things like this. I wouldn't mind a long housesit in Alaska even if it meant a bit of Innkeeping. Travel teaches us so much and opens our minds to different ways of learning and appreciation for learning. Safe Travels my new friend!

I can totally identify. Our girls took highland dancing lessons and attended celidhs the yr we housesat in Nova Scotia. We volunteered at Hamilton Hobby Farm on Vancouver Island and even were left in charge of the whole farm some weekends so the owners could get a well-deserved but seldom accommodating time away as a young family. Boy, did our 7 youngest kids learn a ton that summer 2014 on the hobby farm.

We are now in Mexico staying long-term at a hotel where we have learned housekeeping, pool maintenance, do some reception (we aren't fluent in Spanish) and will be volunteering for our 3rd dog agility competition. Our 12yod and I joined a multi-cultural community choir because we've stayed long term. Many diverse and completely new experiences for us because of the place we stay long term.

Life is GRAND!!
