As a child, my parents took me to see the leatherback turtles on Matura beach in my homeland of Trinidad. It was an experience that has traveled with me through all my years. I would recant my adventures to my husband over and over again about the times when I was a wee little thing running along the beach with my older brother stopping to watch these majestic creatures come ashore to lay their eggs at night.
It’s not often that you find a craft brewery that’s proud to tell you that you can’t have their beer. That’s exactly what you’ll find though when you visit the Wild Rose Brewery in Calgary, Alberta. If you ask them, they’ll tell you that they started their craft brewery with the single mission of freeing themselves from “the tyranny of boring beer”. If you ask me, they’ve succeeded. The only catch is, you have to be in Alberta to get it.
Every city has it’s iconic restaurant that is known for having just that right combination of romantic atmosphere and excellent food. In the Harrisburg area of Pennsylvania that restaurant is Char’s at the Tracy Mansion.
While dining out Lauren and I always make it a point to share our food. Whether it’s just the two of us, or a group of friends, we feel that family style dining is always a better way to try new things and bring variety to the meal. As full-time travelers we normally strive to stay in unique or specialty style hotels. Let’s face it though, more often than not we usually end up staying in a chain hotel. When this happens, it’s usually a pretty generic experience that’s more “meh” than “yay!” Recently however, we had the opportunity to stay in the Pet Friendly Harrisburg Holiday Inn Express while visiting, PA. I’m happy to report that we had a warm, friendly, and positive experience that exceeded our expectations and Zoe’s as well.
