The word love isn’t one that I toss around lightly. I don’t spend a lot of time telling people that I “loved” this movie or really “loved” this new restaurant. It’s just not in my nature. I reserve the word for things that I hold in extremely high regard. Well, after staying at the Aloft Hotel in Calgary, I’m ready to pronounce that I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this hotel brand. It’s not just me that feels this way either: Zoe would tell you the same thing (if you could wake her up :-) )
I love Banff. Located in the Canadian Rockies, it’s the ideal place for skiing, snowboarding and all other winter activities. What do you do though, if you have the grace of a flamingo when put on a pair of skis? Well, being a Floridian that was born and raised in the Caribbean, I don’t fair well trying to be mobile in the snow. Here are a few of my favorite things to do in Banff that have nothing to do with snow.
Who doesn’t like chocolate? Seriously, chocolate is the perfect food; rich, creamy, scrumptious, and versatile. You can use it for savory cooking, desserts and even in drinks. I must admit to being a bit (okay truthfully a little more than a bit) of a chocoholic. If allowed by the rest of my household, I would smother everything in some form of chocolate. Getting a chance to delve into the delicious delicacies at the Cococo Chocolatiers was an absolute treat for me, it was this chocoholics dream come true.
After spending nearly 8 months in Alberta over the course of the last two years, I can definitely say that Lauren and I have absolutely fallen in love. While the city of Calgary itself has a lot to do with it, there’s also something about this area that makes us want to keep coming back. I could sit here and try to write out all the reasons we love Alberta but instead I’ll show you what keeps us coming back and what should make you want to drop what you are doing and come explore Alberta with us.
We absolutely love a good brunch! What’s there not to like about waking up late on Sunday and dragging yourself out of the house for the only meal that allows you to have a cocktail before noon and not be judged? Thankfully the people of Calgary seem to love brunch as much as I do, so there are tons of options for a great brunch in and around the city. After doing lots of tasting and drinking (tough job right?? ) we’ve come up with a list of what we think are the 6 most unique and best brunches in Calgary.
