Getting in Gear with Miami Exotic Auto Racing
“Hit the brakes at 200 ft” … “Now Turn in”…”Hit the apex”… “Now Floor it!” I think my driving coach said something else, but all I remember after that point is a growling 530 HP V-10 engine laying the backbeat for the crashing bang of my frantically thumping heart. There are moments in life where large doses of adrenaline make every minute seem like hours, this was one of them. I can tell you all about the smell of the burning rubber from my screeching tires, the sun glistening on the windshield, the heat ripples on the surface of the asphalt, the dry-metallic taste in my mouth brought upon by the mix of fear and exhilaration, and the feel of this 3500 pound machine dancing nimbly on the track. But what I remember most, is the sound. There is something about the growl of an engine that sends chills up my spine and makes the hairs on my neck dance. It always has. It’s the sound every motor head knows and lives for. I’ve heard it a thousand times from the outside, but I haven’t ever felt it from the inside before. It’s life changing. Addicting! I could insert a million adjectives here but I will say this instead: If just reading this paragraph got you excited enough to feel your blood running hot, you need to find your way to the Le Mans track of the Homestead Miami Speedway and pay a visit to the guys at Miami Exotic Auto Racing. Right. Now!
Cassiar Highway Road Trip Planner: Drive Beautiful BC
Most Americans that make the long drive through Canada to Alaska use the Al-Can Highway going both directions, to me that’s just plain crazy talk. If you’re going to take a long road trip like that, the least you can do is mix it up a bit!
When we took our road trip from Florida to Alaska we made sure to find an alternate route back, and in doing so enjoyed some of the finest scenery one could ask for. We took the lesser known Cassiar Highway and had the opportunity to drive through beautiful British Columbia.
Getting our Kicks on Route 66: A Road Trip Through Time.
Route 66 means a lot of things to a lot of different people in America. In fact, It’s probably one of America’s most written about roads and has become it’s own cultural icon of sorts. To date, there’s been a TV show and songs written about it, in addition to tons of memorabilia that ranges from commemorative maps to reproduction street signs. The road is even featured in Disney’s movie, Cars. There’s no question that Route 66 holds a special place in many American hearts. So what is it about Route 66 that makes it so special? Why is a Route 66 Road Trip so deeply entrenched in American Culture? We spent a day on America’s Mother Road last fall, and I can tell ya, it’s was a great peek into the days of yore.
Das Auto: Our VW Across America – Love on Four Wheels
Kenin and I share a deep love of vehicles. We both also share a love for driving. We are firm believers in buying a car to drive it to its limits, and we did just that when we took our VW across America. Volkswagen roughly translates to “People’s car”. I am sure it could be easily amended to “People’s & Dogs’ car after our VW took us and our dogs from Florida to Alaska. We have owned several VWs in our years together, but I think this is the hardest we have ever made a car “work” for us. :)
